A Fun Reunion Party

The wonderful woman who was our guide and facilitator in China, Judy Wu, has been visiting the U.S. for the last three weeks and made a stop in Salt Lake to see many of the families she helped in China. Our agency threw a party on Saturday at the Olympic Ice Sheet in Ogden and we met up with Judy and a bunch of our friends.

Emma seemed very pleased to see Judy, although it's been 16 months since we've been home and I don't imagine she can remember much about the big trip...

...but Judy certainly remembers Emma and was delighted to see her again.

Our friend Shawn was there with his little girl Sophi. Sophi's been home almost six months.

Here's Sophi and her mama, Calista.

Little Maylin was at the party, too. Maylin's mom, Laurel, and I think Emma and Maylin look a little bit alike.

Emma enjoyed collecting goodies and arranging them on the chairs...

And she just generally had a good time.
It was wonderful to see Judy and our friends. We had a blast.

Okay, seriously I just couldn't be happier for you guys to have l'il Emma to keep you on your toes (and Joe out of the pokey!)
Jack and I would LOVE to come play! You just tell me when. (I should warn you beforehand that as a confirmed only child he lacks the ability to, well, share.) What have I done??

I bet that was so fun. Do you get together with other friends that have adopted often? I bet that is really fun for you and for Emma! What adorable kids. And I can't wait until Amy's hair can go back into a pony tail like that. That's probably going to be the hairstyle of choice - for the rest of her life. I'm really not very creative. Hah.

Liz -- I'm lucky when I can get Emma's hair in a ponytail. And she only likes regular, industrial-strength rubberbands. If I try to put something girly in, out it comes...

Looks like Emma had a great time. And she does look like that other little girl! I thought for a sec it was a picture of Emma. Of course they're both gorgeous.

Emma is one of those rare individuals who somehow manages to have a great time no matter where she is. A real talent, gift, or whatever.

I love that faraway look on Emma's face in the pic with Shawn. Adorable.

Glad you have all these friends with this huge part of your lives in common.

glorious pictures of Emma - she should be the poster girl for a book of emotions - she captures so many of them with every feature in her scrumptious little face!

Yay for the reunion! Is Judy the one you said reminded you of me?

Julia -- Yeah, I don't know why, but Judy Wu had some cool quality that reminded me of you...
Talked to your mom the other day and she said you're doing great in your new digs. E-mail us some pix sometime so I can visualize where you are...

Looks like so much fun. Wish I could have been there. Is it just me or do Emma and Sophi resemble each other? So cute!

It looks like fun was had by all. Emma is getting so big but it's been a long time since I saw her last. We ought to try to get together later this summer when my Emme is visiting me for a while.

Judy Wu aux etats-unis! What fun for Judy and the rest of the gang to meet again on American soil. Does Judy speak English fluently? Did she speak Chinese to Emma? Any flickers of recognition? Did she go home with a Book of Mormon in Chinese?

Emma and Maylin look sooooo much alike.
